Rookie (co-ed)
2024 ROOKIE INFORMATION
Rookie - league ages 6,7,8
Rookie players will be divided into three groups based on spring sort outs - Canadian, National & Provincial Divisions.
Canadian division -- all sessions at Canterbury 1 and 2 diamonds 2185 Arch Street. Higher skilled players, primarily 8 year olds. Pitching machine.
National division - all sessions at either Sharel (1900 Florida Ave) or Playfair (1801 Playfair Drive) diamonds
Primarily 7 year olds - some 6/8 year olds. Coach pitch with tee.
Provincial division - all sessions at Arch School (2129 Arch Street). The Main diamond is closest to the arena. Diamond 1 is the furthest east. Primarily 6 year olds. Tee transitioning to coach pitch.
Two outings per week on Mondays and Wednesdays - 5:45 warm up; 6:00pm practice starts followed by game.
At the beginning of the season the schedule has a higher proportion of practices than games. The first week or two will be skill practice only, especially at the provincial level. After that the format moves to 45 mins skills development followed by a 45 minute game.

If a friend request is of great importance to your child, we consider requests only on a reciprocal basis. Please read the policy so you know all the details - it's posted under policies on the home page. Requests must be received PRIOR to sort outs.
A sort out session will be held in mid April - check for details on the website under spring programs. And we will communicate a specific arrival time to all registrants. This session is for the purpose of dividing players into the appropriate groups, and to balance teams. We have MANY children playing baseball for the first time at this level (and all levels), so there is no need for any child to be nervous about signing up or about attending the sort out session.
Game scores and individual team standings are recorded and there will be playoffs however learning and having fun is the focus, not winning. Every team makes the playoff round and every player receives a trophy.
