Girls Programs
Welcome to Girls Baseball
Girls in South Ottawa Little League (SOLL) can play in an all-girls environment from age 4 to 16. All skill levels welcome - friend requests welcome. Players receive a dryfit jersey, hat, photo and an award.
We are proud to offer programming specific to girls and players that identify as a girl to encourage fun, participation and skill development in an inclusive environment. Girls can sign up for the all-girls Ottawa Girls Baseball League or the co-ed division and if desired may play in both.
SOLL is run by volunteers. The success of our programs is dependent on the availability and dedication of volunteer coaches, team managers and parent helpers. Please consider helping out on your child's team - you can indicate your area of interest when you register. In particular, we encourage moms and other interested females to get involved in coaching. Female umpires are assigned to the girls league whenever possible. Of course, males are appreciated too.
Here's a quick summary of what's available. Scroll down further to find program details for each division.

Programs
SOLL Girls T-Ball Session - ages 4,5,6 $85.00
Sundays 9:30am -10:30am Leitrim Diamond (Bank St at Leitrim Rd). Co-ed teams are also available in T-Ball for 4,5 year olds --- they run on Sat, Sun, Tues and Thurs - information is available on our website. Girls who are league age 6 can play in the rookie coed division or in the Sunday all-girls T-Ball program.
This program offers the youngest ball players a chance to learn basic skills of the game (throwing, catching, hitting off a "T", baserunning) in a super fun, supportive, and positive environment. Parent participation is essential for success.
Ottawa Girls Baseball League
Games are played on Sundays in May, June and July. The season including playoffs will be completed no later than 31 July. We interlock with other Ottawa area teams. Free flowing, and fun practices are an important part of this program.
The rules document can be found on District 2 website. The schedule will also be posted there toward the end of April.
Players must wear long pants -- shorts are not acceptable. Baseball pants are preferred - track pants or loose fitting pants are also acceptable (not jeans). Sturdy running shoes can be worn - rubber cleats work very well.
Friend Requests
Friend requests are accepted based on the league's friend request policy - one request per player on a reciprocal basis. Please read the policy if you plan to make a request.
Rookie Division
(7-8 yr olds)
Players at this level are introduced to hitting versus live pitching. In Rookie, coaches pitch to the players. Each player receives 5 pitches or 3 swinging strikes, whichever comes first. Rookie uses the same field dimensions as Minor and Major levels.
Minor Division
(9-10 yr olds)
This level introduces to player pitching and complete Little League rules. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 46 feet. A combination of player pitch and coach pitch is used.
Major Division
(11-12 yr olds)
As players continue to develop their passion and skill for the game, players will experience more hitting and fielding. Player pitch. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 46 feet.
Junior Division
(13-14 yr olds)
Players continue to develop their passion and skill for the game. The diamond used is bigger than at major - 54' pitching distance, 80' base paths - located at Franco Cite HS - Ron Milks diamond.
Senior Division
(15-16 yr olds)
The diamond used is the same one as junior.
South Ottawa Co-Ed Programs
